There’s a park by the beach in our little beach town. The park is right above the ocean. My friends and I like to lay out there. It’s a great place to hang out.
We lay out our towels next to each other in the grass. When we get hot, we jump in the ocean. It’s so much fun.
The beach is just below us. There’s paths down to the beach. We see all sorts of stuff on our beach. But that’s another story for another day –

Dolphins – The Original Surfers
I love that dolphins always swim in the same direction as a pack. I think they’re called a pod of dolphins. They’re so gorgeous and fluid when they swim.
Sometimes, when we’re in the water, the dolphins will swim right by us. It’s so cool. It’s almost like they don’t notice us. Or, they don’t really care that we’re there.
I’ve wondered how and why they change directions, and start swimming back the way they came. The dolphins are all either swimming north or they’re all swimming south. Right by our beach. Right past us.
They never seem to care what is happening on our beach or what we’re doing in the park. They just keep swimming by our beach.
The dolphins have been swimming back and forth in front of our beach for years. As long as I remember. I’m thinking it’s been for hundreds, if not thousands, of years they’ve been swimming by our beach.
Think about that.
Long before it was “our” beach. Before this grassy park was made. Heck, before the town became a town. Before that dude Columbus sailed the ocean blue. Dolphins have been swimming by this beach.
I hope the dolphins keep swimming by our beach long after I’m gone.
That’s one of our goals at The Original Surfers. To make sure we don’t mess this up. To make sure these wonderful, beautiful dolphins keep right on swimming by our beach for another thousand years.
